This is moving a lot (extremely) slower than anyone hoped. The lines of communication to Elias are open but, since the initial wave of communication when he indicated we might be able to move forward, communication has been sporadic at best (2 weeks or more at a time). Please remember he owns the code and what he chooses to do with it is ultimately up to him.
As for not posting and sadly annoying people, that would be because I for one didn't have the link to the newsgroup and so was blissfully unaware of the various postings. Zutaty and I had shared messages via en.speed.industrie-tycoon.de and I thought he was passing on what little information we had. Sorry.
The code as I've been informed is written in Delphi 5. Things like the URLs for connecting to the logon server are hardcoded into the client. So it will take time to provide a working system assuming the code is eventually made available.
Also, bear in mind that the code that Elias has is the original code from LegacyOnline. So, changes that Puggy made will not be included, which of course means any bugs that were in LegacyOnline will still be there, AND Windows Vista was not invented. This means that the fix for getting the client to run on Vista is with Puggy as well so an initial build would most likely be restricted to XP only. I don't expect Puggy's client to work at all as all the URLs used by the client will be wrong and are hardcoded. Not to mention all the changes Puggy made.
I know its not the same but someone is working on sourceforge.net to build a clone of the game from LegacyOnline, called LegacyClone. He has all the graphic files but not the code behind the game. Maybe this is of interest to some of you in the event you haven't found it already. It looks like he is making progress on the client side of things. He has a couple of basic demos up and appears to be actively working on it.
So at this point, still talking to Elias periodcially but we are weeks, if not months away
from actually putting something together at this stage. We are hopeful that is not the case but realistically based on recent events this is likley to be the case. The announcement about SP3 was somewhat premature in hindsight, but at the time we thought we were hours maybe at most a couple of days from actually getting something concrete and were extremely excited to share the news. Sadly that has turned out not to be the case.
As for offers of help, which are appreciated, until we actually (if) get our hands on the code and we know what we are looking at, we don't know what sort of help we will need for sure. Everything has been derailed by the slow down in communication.
As I get more information I'll drop by, (I've added the forum to my favorites so I don't lose it!), and provide updates, but please bear in mind I'm not expecting any traction on this for another 2-3 weeks at the moment. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
